I am a student at Wayne State University in Michigan, USA. I spend most of my time working on my website, avoiding homework, or gazing for hours at the mesmerizing SETI@home screensaver... |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
As most intriguing questions go, extraterrestrial life is right up there. I guess the main benefits would be to find a more developed culture and understand them. I'd really hate to see a million hours of CPU time help us find a bunch of cannibalistic apes. It would make much more sense to devote more time to sending out a beacon for someone else to find. I mostly run SETI@home to keep my computer busy. I believe this project is benefiting from time that would otherwise be wasted, and see no faults in that. |
