Personal background
I'm an ordinary east London (UK) guy...very passionate about SETI.
Bit of an ancient PC user - well I am 50. God a 50 year old geek...do they exist!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I cannot believe that we are the only ones here. However this universe was created it wasn't created just for us - there has to be someone else out there. If there isn't it just has all got to be a great big illusion...and SETI and others tell us it's not, and I can see the moon, and somebody told me about all those other planets a long time ago at school. Its a little bit like the lottery - but we know someone wins!
Seriously now folks.
I cannot accept, and no one will ever convince me that we are alone. I as an individual therefore, want to do my bit to help.
When I started just a few weeks ago I had a Pentium II that was taking about 70 hours per work unit. I changed my PC recently to a P4 3meg, and it is now grinding through those work units at about 6 hours each. Sorry SETI - didn't do this just for you, even with the prospect of finding WOW (1 or 2)
Come on if your reading this and haven't joined yet........ do your bit. You don't have to watch it (it's a bit like watching paint dry anyway after the first hour LOL), let it run in the background. All you have to do is leave your PC on.
If you want to join a group then join ANGELSUK. If you live in east London UK you will be particularly welcomed.
