Personal background
Avast, ye swabs!

I'm Al, from Motor City, USA. I've got a few computers chewing on SETI.

I'm getting married to a cool chick named Andi. We have fish in the house, and colorful things, and lots of music.

Science interests me. Space and Stars. Monsters and Aliens. Bigfoot and Wildboy. Wilma and Betty. Cheap Trick and ELO. UT and AOE. SW:ESB and POTF. CD and LP. B.O.B. and V.I.N.C.E.N.T. Jake and Elwood. Louis Prima and Phil Harris. Red beans and rice. And coffee.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the creation of the computer crunching farm is the most exciting part of this project. Why would anyone agree to supply free computing power except for the search for ET. Amazing.
I think if PIXAR would allow my screensaver to crunch a few frames of Toy Story 3. I'd be willing to do that, too.

I find it humorous that if another civilization had the exact same equipment we're using, they probably wouldn't be able to detect us. Can that be true? All of the noise this planet makes?

It's difficult to think I can compete with some of these network guys who have SETI running on every computer in their building. But it's a fun project anyway. A nice LONG TERM project like watching a cactus grow.

A grade school teacher of mine once prompted a discussion about music.
What is music? Beats? Rhythymic patterns?
I think it's exciting to take a closer look at the music from space.

I wish SETI allowed you to LISTEN TO the chunk of data you are crunching!
