Personal background
I'm a 52 year old computer hardware engineer, working in the automobile
industry in the UK.

I enjoy travel (particularly by rail), I'm interested in virtually anything
to do with railways & rail travel. I run a few live-steam models on a garden
railway. I spend quite a lot of time on my PC's at home, both operating and
upgrading them (I run Windows 98 on one and Linux on the other).

My other interests include walking, photography (I just got a new digital
camera) and watching rugby & American football.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that intelligent extraterrestrial has to exist, though it may only be
in another galaxy. I think that SETI@home is a very worthwile attempt to locate
any ET intelligence, and a great use of otherwise idle processing time on
millions of computers around the world.

I don't think that we should advertise the fact that we're here, it could
attract the wrong kind of attention. Having said that, there is probably a hell
of a lot of radiation transmitted from earth anyway.
