| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I believe that extraterrestrial life does exist in the universe. Intelligent life, on the other hand, may be much harder to find, though I am optimistic we will eventually discover it. I believe that to find life, not necessarily intelligent, we'll need to explore other worlds. To do this effectively we'll need to go there, and that won't happen for generations. Intelligent life will require us not only to venture outside our little solar system and into the wide open ocean of space, but to discover new means of communication, that other advanced civilizations might potentially utilize. We should also make sure that we broadcast our presence to the universe. Maybe others can better catch our attention if they know we are here. |
