Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI - hmm always been interested in Cosmolgy - Carl Sagan's "Intelligent Life in the Universe" was a good start.

It would be a massive statistical improbability if life was restricted to Earth, if you start from this hypothesis then it is only a very small step to accept that there is intelligent life "out there". Defining "intelligent" and "life" is a bit of a hard one though. Fred Hoyle's "Black Cloud" is an interesting twist on our terra-centric view.

It will be fascinating to see the change in our perception of ourselves when the first contact is made - unlikely in our lifetimes tho' but it WILL happen (if we don't fry, bomb or infect ourselves into oblivion first).

Keep listening but don't bother transmitting - we are already doing that - we must be one of the brightest radio sources in this little corner of the galaxy.
