Personal background
I'm a 53 year old computer junkie and IT person. As a former Broacdcast engineer, I learned how to repair computers long before I knew how to run them. I'm still waiting for HAL, but I know he'll be along eventually. Yoga, Reiki, dogs, horses and country living fit quite nicely into all of this, but you'll have to try it for yourselves to figure out how.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is no question in my mind that life exists elsewhere, only how widely it is distributed and when we will find it. Should we broadcast a beacon? We already do, both as individuals and as a world society. With hundreds of thousands of transmitters, some of them quite powerful.

I run SETI because I think it is a good idea to know your neighbors!

SETI is a worthwhile human endevor because it is a vote of confidence in the creator's ability to apply a great idea more often than once!

Suggestions? Get SETI shown in more movies like "Contact" (easier said than done!).
