Personal background
Hello to you all,

I am Martie Krukkeland from Holland (Netherlands).
At the moment i'm 42 years (2002) old, i'm married and have 3 daughters.

My hobbies are computers and programming (i can create programs in /- 7 different programming languages from mainframe to PC and internet), home improvement (building children gardenhouse), electric wireing etc.

I am a mainframe and network tooling specialist. My Job at the office is to automate everything the mainframe (console) operators don't like to do, if they do like something, but it cost's to much or it is time consuming, i automate it too..

My first computer ever was a (self made) Acorn Atom (the litle brother of the Acorn BBC). The Acorn Atom runs at the moment as a (ISA) PlugIn card inside a Pentium 90 using all the availeble PC hardware as if it where connected to the Acorn Atom self..
Now i have a pentium 90Mhz, a Pentium 400Mhz and a AMD (Pentium) 1.0Ghz computer at home, all connected via a lan.

Seti@Home is running on the Pentium 400 and the AMD, but only the Pentium 400 gets on a regular basis a new file because it runs 24 hours a day.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I hope that there is extraterrestrial life and that we can discover it via the Seti@Home project, because otherwise al those computers who are running the Seti@Home client software have done their jobs for nothing.
If we discover extraterrestrial life we know we are not the only intelligent life in the universe..

If we are getting attention from extraterrestrial life, it is possible that they are not (very) friendly, and if they can come to us, they are technical superior to us (but maybe i'm watching to many SF-movies.. ;-) ).

I run Seti@Home because my computer runs for 20 hours a day on the screensaver, so i thought this waisted computertime can better be used for the greater goods as in the Seti@Home project.
