Personal background
I'm a Brit, 32 years old, living in London (UK). I'm married to Kaori (see photo), and have a 2-year-old daughter, Elena, who slays me (especially her alarming pronunciation of the word "fork").........

I'm a technical salesman in the telecoms equipment industry. Specifically, I sell components for DWDM Tx/Rx modules, tunable lasers, EDFAs etc.

I speak Japanese (both at home and as part of my job), and I hope to work in Japan (again), some time in the future, as I'd like Elena to go to Elementary school over there.

I don't have a lot of time for hobbies, but such as they are:

- computers (Internet, light Photoshopping, video editing, games, SETI)
- movies
- history
- current affairs
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI makes efficient use of my idle CPU cycles, apart from anything else. I also like the idea of participating in a gigantic, world-wide effort, with millions of other people.

I think it is likely that there is life on other planets in the Universe. However, the latter is so vast that I don't think we'll ever see it in its native environment.
