Profile: Dave Baldry

Personal background
Hi I'm Dave, an aspiring squillionaire, happily married for 17 years with 3 kids.
If there's nothing out there, what a waste of space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course there's life out there. Although I do believe we have been set quite a task to find it. I suspect the distances involved are no accident, but I think that human endeavour and persistance will eventually overcome all obstacles and finally prove the existance of extraterrestrial life of some description.
As for the beacon, haven't we been doing that since the advent of Radio and TV anyway? And the content, well ...we havent had much choice really..what will an extra terrestrial civilization think of us after watching an episode of The Simpsons, or even Gilligans Island? I hate to think.
I run Seti at home because I think we would all like to think that it might be "me" who makes the breakthrough. At least thats my opinion!

I just hope that the project continues indefinately, and we don't lose hope through lack of results. We need something to justify science fiction.
