Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think it's very unlikely that Earth is the ONLY location of sentient life in the Universe. I support the effort to locate other life, or to assist them in locating us. The first information we should send is "We are here; we are friendly." I run SETI@home for the useful purpose of doing my part in a worthwhile distributed computing effort and for the entertainment value of watching my personal standing as compared with my team and with the entire group of more than 5 million other participants.
