Personal background
I am a Self-employed information systems specialist. I am able to run the SETI client on several computers.
I enjoy browsing the web by entering mundane words into search engines and seeing where it takes me.
I like to travel, and have been to England, France, Italy, USA, and am currently living in Canada.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The possibility that ETI exists or has existed at some point in time is for all intents and purposes, a "given". The fact that there are billions of stars in our galaxy, and that there are billions upon billions of similar galaxies in the universe makes it a statistical improbability for us to be the only anomaly. If life of a sufficiently intelligent nature exists elsewhere in the universe, outside our solar system, it would be almost impossible to detect within a practical communication timeframe. Our search for ET should only be a mild curiosity, because if ET is discovered it would be improbable that we would be able to communicate at all, let alone actually make physical contact with them. The sheer magnitude of distance between stars makes inter-stellar travel almost impossible, even at the speed of light.
