Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I strongly feel the SETI project will discover life in the universe, and I believe it will be within many of our lifetimes. Mankind has always looked beyond the next hill, the open sea, the mighty oceans, across each continent, and now the heavens for what's out there, what's new, and what's exciting. SETI carries on this very human tradition. I feel it is important to learn about the nature of our existence and our standing in the universe. SETI may help us to understand our position as a people among potentially thousands. As a small chance as this may be, ultimately it is worth it.
