Personal background
Howdy to all. I'm from Queen City, TX which is near Texarkana, USA. I'm 27, an unemployed computer geek who uses mainly Mac OS X, NetBSD, Palm OS 5, and BeOS (Zeta). I hope to eventually become an Astrophysicist someday and be able to do more for those who support SETI, like The Planetary Society. Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Here are my Opinions, take them as you may.

I think extraterrestrial life does exist. How humans discover it lies mainly in when we are ready technologically speaking and if we even look in the right places.

I have hope for all of humanity on this planet to unite itself before we destroy ourselves and to be an outward reaching species of peace.

Of course the obvious things that are in question currently are the spiritual and scientific meaning of such a discovery. These are items to which no easy solutions will come. Ultimately, the events of the future will dictate how our society matures and what external forces will affect these decisions.

Yes, I think we should transmit a beacon. Are we ready to undertake such a project at this point in our societal evolution? This is a humble question really. We are ready, if we are ready to accept change and possibility. There are many elements on this planet that make us not so ready for such a beacon. However, if we do not undertake such a project, we may miss the oppurtunity of finding a better spiritual and evolutionary path for our society to achieve. Already many suspect that what you see technology wise, everyday, is not of this world. Let us end the secrets and lies that our fellow humans instill upon our societies. Peace is the only true way to surviving our own evolution and spiritual issues that are just now starting to present themselves to the planet as a whole. The number one issue that most people today faces, is seeing your species as one planet, among potential millions. The peoples of Earth today do not see all that we are, as one planet, an infinitely beautiful gem on a sandy beach among an infinite cosmos of life. They do not see that the true definition of life, and of our very existence, is as part of a Universe trying to better understand itself.

What should we transmit, what kind of information. Well for one, simplistically put, we should use the language of mathematics. Thread continued on my website.
