Profile: Joe Hancock

Personal background
I'm a 20 year old Student, studying Computer Science at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth.

Currently I'm spliting my time in the department between adminstering/building High Throughput Beowulf Clusters and advisory work (helping students with programming in Java etc).

I mainly run Gentoo Linux, and a few Windows machines.

I'm a self confessed geek, and have a habit of buying "shiny" pieces of hardware.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Why do you run SETI@home?

I'm not sure, its related to some kind of "I've got more workunits/computers than you" kind of thing.

2. What are your views about the project?

If my systems are going to sit there, it might as be doing something.

3. Any suggestions?

It would be nice to see where your results fit in more though. It's a bit "2000 work units...big number, but whats it actually mean?"
