Personal background
Not much to say. I live in Canada. I've spent time on production floors and in cubicles, they're a rock and a hard place, but what can you do? SETI is an exploration of the unknown, the known is limited, but the unknown is an endless source of humour and jokes. And maybe science, you never know. Someday we will get that signal we're all looking for... And then what? Who knows... We're only limited by our experiences, hopes, dreams, and imaginations. When you think about it, that might our ultimate limitation. For now...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My 30 reasons for being apart of SETI@home...

1) Science asks "why". I ask "why not?"
2) It makes me look like I'm actualling doing something important at work.
3) As a species and a member of a possible interstellar community, it's our obligation.
4) What have flying toasters done for anyone lately?
5) To give us, as a species, a new perspective on our own self-importance.
6) This is the closest I've gotten to taking the Space Shuttle for a joy ride.
7) My boss is one of them, but he won't admit it.
8) There's gotta be a job out there somewhere (boss saw number 2 and number 7).
9) If we do find a signal, we won't be able to contact them in our lifetimes, but the knowledge that we are not alone might bring about a new age of mankind.
10) It'll help my new business: marketing tinfoil hats.
11) More women to accidently piss off. Great.
12) SubCommander T'Pol. Nuff said.
13) Confuses the hell out of my cats. Don't ask.
14) We gotta figure out where all those missing socks go!
15) Earth is a nice place to visit, but living here?
16) Everyone is worried and scared of ET. But think of the irony, we're ET's to them! Maybe they'll find us first.
17) My computer screws up my neighbour's cordless phone. Serves him right for playing the stereo too loud.
18) By the way, don't even try putting SETI@home on your resume. It may sound impressive, but it doesn't work.
19) The possibility of common ground between science and religion.
20) I can only hope for some original TV programming.
21) There is no possible way to disprove the existance of alien life, so I think I've got my bases covered on this one.
22) Millions of people involved and counting. Like sheep to the slaughter, count me in!
23) When do we get paid?
24) The possible chaos and looting it might cause. I need a new TV.
25) The Internet being used for something other then porn and spam? Who Knew?
26) Everyone thinks about alien sex. I want to try alien beer.
27) There must be intelligent life somewhere in the universe.
28) Does this count as community service?
29) I might be able to sell them some Amway.
30) Computer overheats -> Starts fire -> Collect insurance money -> Move to Jamaica. Note to self: get insurance. Quick.
