Personal background
Greetings!
My name is Don, I'm from Mississauga, ON, Canada. I'm currently am working for CGI Inc.com as a Technical Representative after studying with CDI College to be a Network Technician. I have been an avid comptuer hobbyist for about 17 years. My current systems are a Full-tower AMD Athlon 850Mhz w/256Mb RAM running Windoze 2000.

I am also interested in cars, specifically older (60s/70s) Mopars(Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler) but currently I am having tons of fun with a '97 DOHC, 150HP Neon :)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think it exists? Indeed I do! When will we discover it? Tough one. I think it will be when we are ready for it. I think that some of us already have been and to be a bit cheesy, I think that it is entirely possible that the Gov't already has been contacted in many countries.

Dangers: Social chaos caused by mentally/spritually immature people who can't fathom the meaning of such a discovery.

Benefits: A whole new area of interest with much to learn for the whole world.

Transmit a beacon? I think it would only be prudent to do so if we find an area that has been proven where intelligent life does exist. Otherwise it is the typical needle in a haystack kind of move.

I am a firm believer that we are not alone both physically and spritiually. One of the reasons I am doing this is to help prove that. Another is to make good use of an 850Mhz processor while I'm not needing it :)

I am enjoying this project and hope to see some real benefits to the world one day.
