Personal background
35 yr old water engineer living in Scotland. Natural genetic hatred of everything South of Watford. SCUBA, photography, stage rallying and drinking to excess with good friends. Please visit the club website at http://www.eastlothiandivers.org.uk

Well that was 12 years ago and how things have changed, since then I've given up being a consulting engineer, spent 6 years as a volunteer on an RNLI lifeboat crew (4 years concurrent as full time assessor/trainer for the North division). Then gone off to drive commercial boats in various places...the last 2 and a bit years in Nigeria...no more drinking, occasional bit of diving but very rarely in Scotland but pleased to say I still have a genetic hatred of all things South of Watford ;-)

And now a further 5 years on and I'm in another career - film and TV..don't even ask but it has been fun - have worked on Avengers Infinity War and Endgame when they filmed in Scotland, Outlaw King for Netflix and Outlander the TV series for 3 seasons on and off...I wonder what I'll be doing in another 5 years?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there should be something out there and I can't think of a better way of finding out without trying to get money off politicians. Benefits / dangers of discovering extraterrestrial life? They're probably the same as if you started a war and therefore can be safely removed from the equation - everybody else does? SETI truly shows what you can do to bring people together from all creeds, religions and cultures to work together for a common good. Why can't everything be like this in the world? I just wish I had a few more machines to run it on!!
