Major sci-fi fanatic, so therefore very heavily into computers. Thus, the natural connection to SETI, right?

Running on a three Compaq Evos (2.53 Ghz), one Compaq Evo laptop (1.06 Ghz), one Dell GX110 (800 Mhz).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I definitely think someone else exists on there. There are just too many other worlds around for there to not have other life in the galaxy. There's no way to tell what kind of life we will find first - if sentient beings come to visit (hopefully not conquer ) us, or if it is organisms and animals once we leave our system. I just wish I was on the ships leaving to explore!

2) Humans have already been transmitting a beacon since the end of the 19th century. Every signal we make has been casting out from our solar system for over 100 years - and we are getting noisier every year. If someone's listening for ETs the same way we are, they'll hear us easy enough.

3) Running SETI originally started as a contest with a co-worker. Of course, he's up to 11,500 to my 3,700 ... but I'll get him someday :) The other main reason is that if I can help to prove that life did evolve elsewhere, I want to be part of it!
