Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
given the variety of RNA/DNA life forms (microspcopic viruses, fungi covering an acre, bacteria living 20 minutes, trees living 5000 years, eagles in the sky, worms in the earth, algae on mountains, squids at the bottom of the sea etc), the problem may be in recognising extra-terrestrial life, rather than finding it - it's a privilege to have taken part in SETI@home on and off since 1999 - the project brings people together from all over the world in common purpose - it is important that SETI continues regardless of whether its goal is achieved - one must know both what is and what is not |
