Personal background
I am a cab driver in Nottinghamshire, I live in a 3 bed detached house and i am married with 3 children.

I have loved looking into the sky for as long as i can remember. I have photographed comets and eclipses (Solar and Lunar) for a long time. I love to watch the movement of the planets and the moon and like to observe ISS or other satelites as they cross the sky. You see for me its all about whats in our Solar system, all of the above, I dont have access to big scopes or advance listening systems so i work with what i have, i like to see things move, to feel close to the action.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does life exist out there? I hope so.
Should we transmit? No. Are we really ready as a race to welcome new life from outside our planet, we can't even get on as Humans. We are all explorers, from the day we are born to the day we die we constantly learn new things, what we lack is the ability to communicate, Do you smile and say hello when you pass someone in the street, do we know all the people on our road, it used to be that way but not any more. Obviously we can't stop the Radio and TV signals that we produce from leaving our planet but going out of our way to send a message, No. we are not ready.
Why do i run SETI i hear you say, For the same reason as most of you, its a great program that serves a very real purpose. But Most importantly if we do ever pick up signals from other forms of life then we must make informed decisions as to what to do and this is why this program is invaluable.
