Personal background
I'm a sad nerd. I even sit and watch my screensaver scan the heavens for alien life (yes, even after 4 1/2 years). I have a strong interest in building a low-end (read: cheap) Beowulf cluster, just for the fun (and potential power) of it. I have the hardware (i.e. low end pentiums w/ Intel FX, VX mobos w/ plenty of RAM) ready to roll. Its just HDDs and motivation stopping me for now.
Speaking of just motivation stopping me, I am in a good position to play with Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11) in Brisbane, Australia where I live.

If you need to talk to me about the above, please use bernarra@uqconnect.net until June 2003, then revert to palatar@email.com.

Thanks.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
According to the broadly accepted concept that, while curved and perhaps even "pierced in the Z-Axis" by black holes, due to its infinite nature I am nevertheless confident there must be other life in existence in the universe. Infinity with probability is cool like that, especially if you stay the away from maths courses at Uni (they'll try and mess you up, aaaaagghh)!. I have been plodding away at SETI@Home since its inception. Until mid-2002 I had only an Intel Celeron 300A plodding away in the name of science. I now own an AMD Athlon XP 1800 w/ the kind of mobo that will last through the nextgen CPUs. For some reason, all my work units finish in less than, well, days and days like with the Celeron 300.
