Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The main reason for running SETI@Home is that I believe there's more out there... To quote: 'If it's just us... it seems like an awful waste of space... right?' (Jodie Foster in the movie 'Contact'). I seriously doubt we (our generation) will find any extraterrestrial life in our time... But if we don't try, it surely won't happen.

I have no clue what to expect from extraterrestrials. Evil? Good? I do enjoy a good Science Fiction movie... Star Wars, Star Trek, Independence Day, Contact and so on... One movie pictures what happens if the ET's are evil, another one pictures what happens (could happen) if they're good... Of course, all are fiction, and if we find ET life in our time, we will be surprised anyway, no matter what we expect.

So I guess there's no way of telling what I expect, since it will be off reality anyway, but I like to think ET would be the good guys... Maybe idealism, maybe just the thought that maybe they're smarter than the human race when it comes to dealing with people that are different from us.

For the rest... space is such an interesting place... no boundries, no limits, no end... Impossible to imagine it all... VERY interesting...

Last but not least... there's nothing like watching the stars on a warm clear summernight... and let the imagination run freely...

All in all, plenty of reason to be a member of SETI@Home... Who knows what we'll find...
