Personal background
Whats to say. Got a PC and decided it had lots of free time on it's hands. Could use it for something useful rather than just giving the idle process something to do.

Now its a race between the girlfriend and myself to see who can find the WOW signal first. She wants a faster PC just to run SETI@home now!

While the PC does it's thing, I tend to be riding my motorcycle, rock climbing or snowboarding. Sleeping also occurs, as does drinking vast quantities of alcohol, but I suspect I am not alone there.

Try to read lots of varied books, classical texts like Frankenstein and Moby Dick are good, but you can't beat an Iain Banks novel.

Last comment - Speed cameras suck, especially when they are on motorways.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Who knows what is out there. Think there more chance of finding ET than God, but until we find either, that debate can rage on.

A beacon is surely unnecessary as we throw out a huge eletro-magnetic signal as it is. Perhaps we should be looking for broadcast signals similar to the ones we use, rather than the Hydrogen thing.. all depends on their technology being similar to ours I suppose.

Seti@home stops my computer getting bored, it loves FFT's ;-)
