Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I beleive that there is intelligentlife elsewhere in the universe. However, I think that they are too far away for us to contact them. It would take hundreds of years for radio signals to travel to them, since they only travel at the speed of light. When ad if we discover a method of transmitting signals faster than light or, even better, find a way to travel faster that light, then perhaps we will discover them. Or maybe they will discover us. But if these extra-terrestrials are hostile, then we may not want to find or be found by them. If they are advanced enough to travel to our planet, then they could very easily destroy it, or conquer it. But if they are friendly, then we may be able to learn about them and about the universe. We may also be able to adapt their technologies adn explore sapce by ourselves.
