Personal background
I am from Ontario, Canada. I am a retired Finance Director and have been interested in Astronomy since my early youth. I am just an ordinary amateur on the subject. I do read a lot about it and I snoop around on NASA website to get the latest progress on the the probes sent into space.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I participate in the SETI@home program because it is my firm belief that extraterrestrial life exists. Il would be preposterous for us to believe that we are the only ones in this vast universe.

It may be different from us or exactly like us. Nobody can tell. We may not even recognize it when we come face to face. It is hard to say how to communicate with them since we do not know what type of technology they have. It may be a form of communication that is totally beyond our comprehension but that does not mean that we cannot try our own to do so. On the contrary, we must keep on trying with the hope that some lifeforms beyond the galaxy will be able to decipher it. I feel confident that we will come in contact in a not so distant future.

SETI@home is the right vehicle we have at our disposal now. No doubt there will be other forms of communication in the future as technology advances but in the meantine we must not give up, we must keep on trying.
