Personal background

Hello, I am a very proud 32 year old father of five awesome children. I was born and raised in the St.Louis area of Missouri. I am a professional driver who enjoys boating, cars, music, gambling, and spending time with my family. I have always found anything to do with the universe around us and the unknown to be very intriguing. Some of my favorite programs include, The X-files, Star Treks, and most of the outer space related materials on TDC/TLC and PBS.

Although I don't have much background in this field, it gives me great pleasure to know that I'm part of a very diverse, elite group of people (considering the earth's population anyway). People who care enough about the subject, to help in the effort to prove once and for all that we are NOT alone.

I don't feel that we will find other intelligent beings in this manner, but I greatly understand the importance for us to finish this project totally, so that we as a species can move on to other potential methods of discovering one of the singlemost important events in mankinds history. Therefore, I'm looking forward to the future with SETI@home and my fellow SETIzen's. :0)

Any correspondence welcome. Remember pen pal's, I think that was kinda fun.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My opinion of SETI@home?

I think it has to be one of the greatest idea's to have been made into reality. The computing power that's been gained/added to this effort, is enough to make our government drool!!! Genius!!!

Extraterrestrial life?

I absolutely believe that there is. For it would be very selfish and self-centered to think otherwise. Not to mention that I don't believe that every person in history is a liar and or they were mistaken about sightings or encounters that they have had. Impossible!!!

Transmit a beacon?

Hell NO! Despite the fact that we have already put enough information in the cosmo's about who we are, I don't believe that it would be interpreted as an invitation, as opposed to a beacon. So until we have more facts about what the universe holds for us and not until we are much, much more advanced in the defense of our planet from outer bodies, should we then consider transmitting. I mean, we don't really know how to stop a meteor or comet from destroying us, much less another race or civilization of beings that most likely would be far more advanced than ourselves. Furthermore, all of the life we know, for the mostpart, has an instinct to dominate and conquer. Be the strongest and eliminate the weak. What if an alien race were like that? Not to mention the fact that if they possess the knowledge and technology to get to our tiny grain of sand in the universe, could we possibly defend ourselves against them, if need be? I think we should wait until our defenses are far more adequate. Semper Paratus!!!
