Personal background
Personal Data
I've been living in Feuerthalen (Switzerland) for 23 years now (that is for my whole life, though).
I started SETI@home about two years ago, but interrupted processing workunits because I had to finish my apprenticeship, Uncle Sam wanted me (Yes, we also have an Uncle Sam in Switzerland, altough his name is Samuel Schmid ^_^ ) and I began to study KI (IT combinded with some business stuff) at the ZHW, Zürcher Hochschule Wintertur that is.
Interests
At this time I used the power of my Computer for stuff like computer games and that, which is why I have to rerun the first year now -_- I still play games, but also actually do some work for school. Hobbies beside computers are Battletech, reading, Astronomy and, of course, Animes /°^_^°\\
Computer Data
Intel Pentium 4 @ 2'530MHz
1GB RDRAM
4 80GB HD in a 0,1 RAID-Array
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ETL?
If I'd think ETL dosn't exist, why would I run SETI@home on my computer? Of couse it does. Take a close look at "our" planet. There is not one single place on it where's absolutely NO life. Are all the other planets simple balls of gas, dirt and/or ice?
Contact?
Unless Einstein was wrong or Aliens have some very neat technology, the nearer generations of mankind will never make contact with them. But if they can reach us, God with us they are peaceloving thingies ^_^
Transmitting a message?
Erm...
For peaceloving Aliens: "Don't come here! We are a primitive, slf-destructive, ignorrant and dumb species. Nothing good for you."
For agressive Aliens: "Don't come here! No resources, no technology and no slaves, fore we are a primitive, slf-destructive, ignorrant and dumb species. Nothing good for you."

I'm running SETI@home because my Processor would become bored without ^_^ Or because I would like to appear in a Top-100 List??? Or maybe just for the reason the project was developed: to find signals from ETL.
