| Personal background |
I am a 29 years old security guard from Turku, Finland. I quit my physics teacher studies at the last moment in favour of a job where I don't encounter so many annoying "customers" ;p
Some of my favourite TV-programs are Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1, Law & Order, CSI and other crime series currently available (so I _do_ watch also something else besides Sci-Fi). All Star Trek series are also my favourites, as well as Friends.
My hobbies include strategy and computer games, and watching Finnish ice-hockey and Formula One. Nowadays also I do some computer hardware and silent cooling more or less because of force of necessity (keeping my computer as silent as possible helps me to get permission from my wife to keep it on 24/7...) :p

Do ETs exist?
Well, why not? Not that we are likely to discover them in the near future with this kind of technology, though - the signal should have been sent thousands of years ago, and our response would take an equally long time to reach them. That could hardly be considered interaction.
Why do I run Seti@home? Because I can. Because I want to show off how many packets I can complete. Because this way I can get my computer (or computers nowadays) to do something useful while I am not using it myself. Because, maybe we get lucky and find an extraterrestrial signal. And I'd somehow like to be a part of a revolutionary discovery like that. |
