Why do you run SETI@home?
Why do I run SETI? Because I believe that there is life out there somewhere. Whether we find it or not does not concern me, I am glad to donate spare CPU time to a worthy project such as this.
Thoughts about SETI
My thoughts on extraterrestrial life: I do believe they are out there. Will we find them? I think it is most likely they will find us first, if they haven't already. I think there are pro's and con's to discovering whether or not we are alone. The medical and technological advances are tremendous, things that we as a planet can benefit from. The drawback of discovering E.T. could be annihilation of the human race, introduction of unknown diseases and so forth.
I think we should transmit out into space, but not before choosing locations that we believe might harbor intelligent life.
