Personal background
Since i was born in 1965 i always got lost in somewhere looking at the stars at night. I like SciFi and everything that deals with space. I heard about the SETI project several years ago but i didn't knew about the distributed computing action they invoked. Beeing part of this project really amazes me. Due to that i set up a small computerfarm at home. Now there are: Three dual ATHLON MP 2800, two dual ATHLON MP 2600, one dual ATHLON MP 2000, one single Athlon MP 2600 and one Intel P4 2800. I had to reduce uptime of all these computers at summer since i couldn't get rid of the huge amount of heat they produce!!! So i convinced some of my working collegues and some of the redundant backup systems at work to give all the unused CPU time to the SETI@Home project. Well - it works! Crunch along!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, i am convinced that there is extraterrestrial life somewhere but i don't know if we are able to find this life within the next years. My opinion is that some of our political and economical leaders should experience that their point of view is not the center of this universe....

I have no mind what will happen when we get into contact with ETs. Looking back at the last years and centuries shows me that we have enough work to do on our small planet! Why should we be able to deal with ETs when we are unable to deal with ourselves?

Nevermind, i am very curious about SETI and i am looking forward to get the message: Yes - there is someone out there!

So please go on in that pleasant way you did it until now - i'll be part of it!
