Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
AD1. Of course ET exist somewhere. Nobody know where (yet), but they are and maybe they know about us (some of them). It is not possible, that in such large number of different stars, there is no places like Earth, where life can exist. Maybe in many of that places is colonized by primitive life, but some of planet for sure are inhabited by more inteligent form of life.
I have no idea when humans could discover this life. But I think it won't be during my life :). From the other side projects like SETI@HOME can really speed up such discovery. But I am little afraid that the level of our today technology is insufficient. I think when we discover how to move with speed of light, how to fold the time-space (??? is that correct name what I thinking about ?), how (if possible) to teleport real matter etc. then We could find some different form of life "on the other side" ;)).
AD2. I don't think so it is necessary. The Humankind transmit to space many signals every day. And transmit some special beacons in some incomprehensible language (excluding mathematic language maybe) is a waste of time. It is my opinion.
AD3. Because of my first answer! I didn't think about my views. I hope that someday the SETI@HOME Crew said "We found it!!! It comess from the Mars (for example)". And I hope it will be MY COMPUTER!!!! :))
