| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1- It surely exists. Is there any doubt? Within this vast universe we cannot be the only ones!Soon or later if we try, life in other planets will be discovered (or vice versa. A new type of knowledge will be founded and if the discovered prove to be considered by us as intelligent, such an opportunity cannot be thrown away. Though everyone must be aware that in nature, when two forces equally competitive become face to face, only the strongest will survive... (maybe too appealing to war but...)
2- Of course a message should be sent (and was) but nothing that could put in risk our lives, like our weaknesses (we don't know in what hands will it is going to stop)
3-I run SETI@home mainly because i find it the best way so that my spare time on the pc is used to help achieving something great, something the humanity may be proud of in the future! The project must continue and is vital for our own survival in the far future.
