Personal background |
Greetings Earthlings!
I'm mid-thirties with two lovely daughters, a gorgeous wife and a deep interest in all things science, engineering, technology, botany, anatomy, metorological, bicycles, beer, food, music... There's so much fun to be had on this planet!
Based in East Sussex (UK) with a foot in France I love to mess around with my computers which are entirely constructed from rescued bits, consequently not the worlds fastest or most reliable but then it's never dull!
Wishing you all health and happiness - JoeM aka Uncle Meat |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Q. Why do I run Seti@home?
A. Because I can't believe there's nothing out there, and I can't stand to go into Task Manager and see "System Idle Process 99.98%". Seti, and now Boinc, are the finest thing your PC can do in it's spare time, and boy does it have spare time.
Q. What are my views about the project?
A. It's a brilliant idea. It is almost certain that somewhere out there is some life. If this is the case, then floating about in all that void there must be some evidence of it. Maybe it's radio waves, maybe it's some other Cosmic Space Goo, but if you don't look you won't see anything.
Q. Any Suggestions?
A. Who knows what is hidden in the Seti data tapes. You've been listening very hard to something looking for a particular thing. There could be - must be - all sorts of other interesting stuff in there at any frequency you care to mention, and somebody somewhere must have some ideas as to what to do with it.
Hey, you guys should make a CD with all the interesting signals on it mixed up into music by a bunch of different artists... and sell it on the site to raise money for yet another Funky Sun Server! That's another coffee you owe me.
