Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that life exisits somewhere out there. The universe is a huge place and for us to be the only evolved life forms is almost stupid to consider. I believe that we should, and will find other life forms outside our solar system, and that we will learn a great deal from them. We should however be very cautious, and not transmit any beacons until we know who we are dealing with. We do not want to say "Here we are, come take over because we are so far behind you." We should find out as much as we can about a new race before asking them to come to us or us go to them. I do believe that earth has been visited by others, and that we are not alone, just not interesting enough right now. We are still to primitave, and to warlike with each other as an entire planet, to be of much real interest. I am sure that others are keeping an eye on us to see how we evolve, and in time, will let themselves be known to us.
