Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that ET life exists and that we have had contact with it. Either our government has chosen not to reveal it to us, or the ET life has chosen not to reveal itself to any but a select few who naturally would not spread word of it.
Quite a few benefits and dangers exist of such a discovery. If the ET life is as intelligent as us though, they would avoid contact with us until we can figure ourselves out. Until that day comes, we should try to better ourselves and continue the push into space to find them.
I also believe that humans should transmit beacons into space as a concerted effort and not rely on transmissions of our broadcasting system. Though they paint a true picture of us, they are the type of first impression we should make. After all, the first broadcast images this planet has ever made were of Adolf Hitler at the 1936 Olympics.
Perhaps relating the different alphabets and associated them with prime numbers and then transmitting messages of welcome with prime numbers.
I run SETI@home in the hopes that the information I analyze will help.
