Hi There!
I am a railroad locomotive engineer for BNSF railway and I
live in western Arizona close to where AZ, NV and CA all
meet. I am married, and have two sons at home, along with
horses, dogs, cats, guinea hens, lovebirds, snakes, bobcats-
brother! did I forget the chickens? Who needs to look to
outer space, there's all sorts of alien life forms right
around here....

Anyway.....I think I became convinced there are others in our galactic
neighborhood when as a youngster, I was scared out of my wits by a movie called
'Invaders from Mars'- Yeah, now how many of you remember THAT one? I can still
remember the effect that movie had on me. But it surely hasn't changed my
fascination with the idea or my belief that there are indeed 'others' among us.
My feelings are, that intuitively, with the zillions of stars out there, we
cannot be the only intelligent life form around. But then...those folks out there probably know what
life is like on this rock and are intuitively saying to themselves "Lets ignore this knock on the door, and hide!"
When I discovered the SETI project, I thought- "All right!, I can get into this and do my part to find ET".
...and my wife? she just shrugs her shoulders....my daydreams take me to Vega,
she drags me back to Earth to mend a fence...I would only hope that contact with extraterrestrials would happen in my
lifetime, I am sure they exist- And I keep the positive attitude that they will
land in my back pasture so I will get to meet them first.
I don't think we will discover them as much as they will discover us. Or rather
they will be the ones to initiate a contact. Should we send a beacon? You bet,
What to send? who knows? probably some scientific mathematical formula, along
with our address. I run SETI because I really enjoy being a small part of this large
volunteer effort, I do think it is a worthwhile project, and it makes a wonderful basis for a little
friendly competition with my friends!
