| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I think the universe is too big not to have some other forms of life besides what exists here on Earth. Not sure if/when we will discover it or if we will be discovered first.
I think transmitting a beacon to others is a double edged sword. It could help those benevolent forms of life find us and enhance our lives, but then again who is to say that all forms of life are going to be benevolent.
I run SETI@Home because I have a few powerful machines at my disposal, and I like to see how fast I can get work units completed (any suggestions here on how to speed up this process would be appreciated). |
