Born 8 years prior to Sputnik, I grew up knowing of the early space researches and technology. In 1960 I found an interest in astronomy, and am since 1978 a Life Member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
Although I have never or expect to see any "UFO", or "little green men", I have absolutely no doubt there are "others out there" and wait eagerly for the words from afar!
Any direct effort that I can put forth to speed up this process is limited, so the offer to assist SETI@HOME in this direction excites me, and gives me hope that this generation will live to hear from our neighbours.
I only hope our world does not mess up and "burn down the house" before company comes.
