Profile: The Thin Man

Personal background
I'm a student at Glasgow University and life, at the moment, is just a tin of peaches, tho a little more dosh would be appreciated. Although my background is varied and some may find it interesting, I wont bore you with all of it. Let's just say it's, sort of, buttermilk colour. Hey, I didn't get to choose it!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is there life out there? I hope so, otherwise this a bit of a waste of time and effort (ok, so there's not much effort involved) but you know what I mean.

Should we transmit a beacon? I think we are already blasting enough garbage into space in the form of Neighbours, Coronation St, Top of the Pops, etc.

Why do I run Seti@home? Why not? I have a fairly powerful computer which is vastly under-used so..........Actually, I'll do and watch anything rather than write an essay or read a book.....................and the processing page, with all those lovely colours is so pleasant and relaxing to watch.....anybody want a coffee?
