Personal background
I'm in IT (surprise, surprise!). I'm the IT Coordinator for a nationwide company that collects data on Traffic and in my spare time I'm a rural IT consultant in the wilds of Yorkshire.

I was originally born in Essex in the UK but I now live in Yorkshire after going to University at York.

I like to enjoy the country, I live in a little cottage out in the sticks that I'm doing up at the moment. My other passions include food, cars, and animals.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that extraterrestrial life exists without a doubt. In an inconceivably large universe (well to us anyway) how could it not? To assume that we are the only life is no better than assuming that the universe revolves around the Earth.

I wouldn't think we'd need to transmit a beacon. The amount of electromagnetic noise permeating from the Earth must be immense. The only thing I worry about is how intelligent life would view us if it understood what we are transmitting. We'd come across as the most sadistic, competitive, warlike culture imaginable.

I run seti@home because I have a lot of computing power at my disposal going to waste. Seti is a project that merits help by attempting to scientifically prove that we are not alone.
