Personal background
I am a 30-something that has always had an intense interest in science, particularly as it relates to space and space exploration. I love to read, and usually have several books going at once...as well as a bunch of different magazines, including Space News and Sky & Telescope.

When I was a child, I always wanted to be an astronaut. I can still remember seeing the original edition of the National Geographic magazine with the Apollo astronaut on its cover and wishing I could also trek across the surface of another world. That dream has still not died...maybe some day...

I earned my bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with the intent of going into the aerospace industry. Well, that didn't work since I graduated during the 1991 recession and it seems like nobody was hiring electrical engineers. Now I work for Agilent Technologies as a project manager and technical trainer on Agilent's eBusiness team. It's a far cry from being an astronaut, but hey...you never know!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Hmmm....does extraterrestrial life exist? Good question! I have always wanted to believe that there is extraterrestrial life elsewhere, but if there is not I wouldn't be surprised.

The SETI@Home is a fantastic project! The concept of harnessing so many computers to do these calculations is pure genius.
