Personal background
My name is David, I live in the UK (Bucks currently but I'm moving to Oxford soon). I've always been a sci-fi freak and work in the environmental field as an EMS assessor (a what??). Space and most things scientific have always fascinated me. I have no doubt we're not alone, but whether we occupy the same plane as those "out there" is another question.

I run SETI all the time I'm at home. I only wish there were more mass science projects to take part in (if you know of any let me know please). I'm looking for a SETI group to join in the Oxford/Bucks area.

When I can think of anything inspired to say I'll edit this.

Bye for now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. We have discovered extra-terrestrial life (in the White House as we speak).
I don't think you need me to tell you the dangers of George Dubya.
2. Too late for a beacon; we don't need it as we started transmitting long ago.
3. I am a social animal and like to think whatever's out there will be too. I run SETI as an SOS from our little fragile planet. Hopefully a passing space ship will drop in one day and take the minds of our self-involved little species off beating the hell out of each other.
I'd suggest we could solve all manner of ills if there were more similar projects which give everybody: Arab, Christian, Jew , Buddhist, Black , White and every other shade of colour & Creed in between, the chance to communicate as individuals. Why can't we just get on?
