Personal background
I am fifty years old and have looked at the night sky for as long as I can rememeber with hope that some day I would have the opportunity to look back on this little blue ball in space. I have a telescope and radio scanner, I like camping and family.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I believe that there is life out there in some distant and far away world. I hope that our signals no not scare them away from contact with us. I also hope our signals are not to low on the scale of intelligence.

2. I firmly believe that we need to contact who ever is out there, who knows what answers to medical and other social issue are just waiting to be shared.

3. SETI is the best method to date to attempt to contact other planets. It is the least costly and most efficent. Although I support the space exploration currently provided by NASA, we are far from being able to travel to another world outside of our little planetary solar system. I would love to be the one who locates the first real signal, or even just know I gave the best shot I could..
