Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I participate in Seti@Home because I enjoy helping to find what could become one of the most important discoveries in the history of man.

I have little doubt that there is other intelligent life in the universe. I'm not sure if we will discover them or if they will/have discover(ed) us, but Seti@Home may yeild some results. I don't think we need to send a beacon out. Hell, 50 years of regular television programming have already done that.

I hope that the benefit of finding intelligent life outside the Earth will be to give mankind a new perspective on ourselves and cause us to set aside our petty squabbles.

Finally, I think Seti@Home has show the world that a group of people can accomplsh a huge task through the use of technology. Everyday people like myself can participate almost effortlessly, and the benefits are great. I am sure that even if no sign of extraterrestrial life is found with this project, other scientific discoveries will be made from the data we produce. It is my hope that we will be able to continue to do like projects for some other beneficial goal.
