Personal background
I am 61 years old and a former U.S. Navy Electronic Communications specialist. I have over forty years working with digital communications and computer systems. I am now attending Western Kentucky University majoring in Middle School Education.

I enjoy reading classical literature, science fiction, and early to mid-century pulp fiction. I also read a lot of European history. My private library has over three thousand volumes with just over six hundred non-fiction titles. Nothing I like better than pop a porter, ale or a lager and with my border collie at my feet, sit down next to a roaring fire to read whatever book or tome that has taken my fancy.I am a big fan of PBS documentaries, mini series, and woodworking shows.

I live in a polyglot house: one half 180 year old log, 100 year old frame, and a kitchen that was formed by enclosure of a back porch done sometime between the construction of the log and frame sections. Needless to say, due to the age of the structure and general its general repair, it has turned into one of the biggest most most expensive personal project that I have ever undertook.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started running SETI@home back when it first became available (user number was in the 700s) but lost my account after three years, one move, and lack of Internet service after an extended period. I truly believe that in a vast universe, we are not alone. SETI@home may never achieve its goals, but if there is no effort, there can never be any rewards.
