Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm pretty sure, that we are not alone in the universe. I think that extraterrestrial life and intelligence exists, but if we will ever discover it, is questionable. Due to the fact, that the universe has an undefined size, the most of it will remain undiscovered forever. Maybe the ET intelligence is "right under our nose", and they just don't have techniques as advanced as radio transmission.

I think we should send out a beacon with the coordinates to our planet, however we should consider the risk, that we might not like what we find (or what might find us). I'm not talking Independence Day here, but the same way we consider colonization on Mars, someone (or something?) could seek colonization on the Earth.

I run SETI@home because I'm very interested in space and space issues, and I see the search for extraterrestrial intelligence as a very important contribution to the questions "Who are we", "Where are we heading", etc.
