Personal background
I'm a software engineer living in the Ontario, Canada area. I've graduated from the University of Toronto in 1997, and have been working in the same company since.

Some of the stuff I like to do is:

  • Reading the "Last Rune" series by Mark Anthony (must read books!)
  • I do write some fantasy short stories
  • Working out, more specifically strength training.
  • Programming: C++, C#, HTML and JAVA

Though lately, most of my free time (when not working or at the gym), been mostly focussed on my better half that I met about a little over two years ago. Also do spend quite some time playing World of Warcraft and EVE as well.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I decided to run SETI@Home many years ago because I thought I'd lend a hand in trying to answer the age old question: Is there intelligent life out there?

The universe is so big, and the stars infinate, we can't be the only intelligent beings in this universe. If we are, it's a pretty scary thought.

Either way, I thought I'd help out, and I thoguht this idea of distributed computing was a pretty kewl idea.

Now granted, since we only survey a fraction of our sky, the chances of us finding any sign of intelligent life in this manner are small, but it's better than none. And if we do find signs of life, I want to know that I've at least contributed in some manner in discovering it *chuckles*
