Personal background
I'm an amateur astronomer, student, business owner, legal researcher....I know a little about everything and not a lot about anything. My growl is much worse than my bite.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Only a geocentric-thinking person could believe that we are the only life in the universe. I'm not convinced that we are the only intelligent life...well, because I'm not convinced that we ARE intelligent life. A species that would destroy their own planet can't be too intelligent. I think that we will discover life on other planets as long as we have enough time left to do that. Apparently we're not smart enough to stop ourselves from destroying this planet but maybe ETs will be able to convince us....or they will terraform earth after we have pushed this atmosphere to match Venus.

I feel that radio transmissions are the most likely way that life will discover other life in the universe. I think that seti@home is a very worthwhile project.
