I am a Jazz Trumpet Player located in NYC that got hooked on Art Bells late night radio show (artbell.com) while driving back from late night gigs.
I recently joined the SETI@home project as part of the Art Bell Team and have tried to get all of the computers that I have access to set up with the SETI@home screen saver.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that this whole idea of using multiple cpu's to help perform a single task is GREAT!
As for extraterrestrial life....well, I don't know....but would at least like to be a pert of checking it out. Keeping our heads in the sand can help no one.
There are plenty of religious (religions being MAN MADE) people that would NOT like any of this research going forward.....they are afraid of what will happen IF extraterrestrial life is acctually found. What they don't realize is (maybe) on the 7th day, God rested....and on the 8th day, He went off to create yet another Universe and other beings in His image etc....
We would have to be VERY egotistic to think that in ALL OF THE VASTNESS....WE are the ONLY life. Do the math!
